This Don Cabron Mexican Chili Oil is a delicious traditional Mexican salsa macha! This chili oil originated in pre-Hispanic times, used by the Olmecs and Totonacs in the Veracruz region, Mexico. The ancient inhabitants made use of dried chili peppers immersed in palm oil. Thanks to “La Conquista Española,” sesame seeds and peanuts were added. This not only makes the texture extra crunchy but also enhances the flavor tremendously. The name ‘macha’ refers to people who were brave enough to consume and endure strong doses of spiciness.
