I’m a massive fan of Blair’s sauces and Pure Death is right up there amongst my favourites. I can’t think of any food that will not been improved, enlivened and totally transformed by a generous dash of Pure Death. I even admit to taking a swig straight out of the bottle once, but I got a disapproving look from Mrs Burnörium so, if I want an immediate fiery fix now, I cut a lump of cheese and slather it with Pure Death. The secret of this sauce lies in it’s simplicity. Pure Death contains very few ingredients but it’s totally natural bright orange colour is testament to the fact that it’s absolutely packed to the rafters with wonderful orange habanero pods. Crack the lid open and you can actually smell the flavour. Taste it and you’ll experience a sensational fruity, fire that’s fresh, clean and totally pure. Absolutely stunning! The exceptional quality of Blair’s sauces is acknowledged by chilliheads the world over. Blair’s Original Death is the one that started it all back in 1989. I’ve been using this sauce for more years than I care to remember and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed it on every type of food you can imagine. I just find the flavour so damned addictive. It’s got a nice kick, but it’s not too hot to use liberally. It’s got a great garlicky edge with nice smoky notes from the chipotles. It’s got… actually, I’m going to shut up, I’m beginning to sound like some kind of poncey wine critic. Just take my word for it. Blair’s Original Death is a cracking sauce and you really should have a bottle in your fridge. Did I mention the underlying spicy notes, the zingy lime plucked from its branch at four in the morning, and the dew-covered coriander?
